Communication will be the main focus of all training offered by Dog School USA. Communication between pet and guardian is where the bond is cemented. We only use positive reinforcement and force free methods.

Dog School USA offers courses with classes developed specifically for guardian and canine interaction with communication as THE focus.

The basic course consists of 3 class components with a final "test"

The first class we offer is a two hour Before Getting Your Puppy/Dog class.

This class series will prepare you for your pet’s arrival. We will meet 2 times for one hour a week. (An "optional" enhancement to these classes is a 30 minute "puppy proofing" session in your home offered at $35)

The second class we offer is In-Home Private Training

This will be a personalized class, with you, your dog and the instructor, focusing on the specific needs of your pet in their environment. Classes are in a one-on-one setting scheduled in 1 hour increments, ideally at a consistent time and day of the week.

The third component is the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Overview.

This is part one of a two part class that is designed to

1. teach responsible dog ownership to owners as a prerequisite for the official testing.

The fourth component is the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test.

1. certify dogs have the training and behaviors needed to be reliable, well behaved members of their families and communities.
2. Dogs passing the CGC test will be eligible to receive Canine Good Citizen certification. Guardians must send in the passing test form to the American Kennel Club to receive the actual AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate.
   

   Items necessary for testing:

   • Accepting a friendly stranger
   • Sitting politely for petting
   • Appearance & Grooming
   • Out for a walk (Loose Leash)
   • Walking through a crowd
   • Sit and Down on command/ Staying in place
   • Come when called
   • Reaction to another dog
   • Reaction to distractions
   • Supervised Separation

Dog School USA does not offer any sessions for dogs with aggression issues. We do, however, have a Dog Behaviorist that we highly recommend. Please contact us for further information.
